Woke up the FJ today

It is almost a crime, how long I let the FJ sit without starting it.

Re-checked and adjusted the valves, replaced the valve cover gasket and bolt seal, installed a 4 degree ignition advancer - but my gosh, how many months has it been sitting without running!

Dropped the battery in, opened the garage, pulled it out and gave it a shot - did not start easily by any means. Took several tried and there was at least one carb acting finicky.

Warming up while my jacket, helmet and gloves were "installed", it sounded better and better all the time it ran.

Pulled out of the driveway, classic signs of plugged or restricted pilot jets -

But it cleared right out!

A little too cold for me, but I rode farther than I planned anyway.

Been a great day!

Been working on the GS550 myself, welded in the lower bearing race on the neck and the upper went right in with the use of shim stock. She feels much better now...

I thought about going for a spin but your right about it being nippy today...

Oh yea i almost forgot, almost done with the chain drive conversion on the XS1100. I'll post some pics of what i wound up doing soon...

Just completed another valve adjustment and installed this gem -



Today all the rubber grommets holding the side covers on were replaced.

Need to check the chain and sprockets, maybe change the front brake lines and rotors, but I'm thinking it is ready to go as it is.

Just need the right weather and the time to actually do it.

I have started just posting links so as not to lose the best of the pictures. Many of the links I post have a perfect size when in says - instead of the + size.
