Malossi Variator Installation Empty
PostSubject: Malossi Variator Installation   Malossi Variator Installation I_icon_minitimeFri Mar 29, 2013 11:50 am

I'll be posting pictures of how to install a variator in the Honda Metropolitan.

Why would someone change the variator?

Improves top speed!

There are several brands and types on the market, the cheaper ones do no last very long. Good ones, such as Polini and Malossi, are of superior quality.

The Variator is basically your transmission - think of the aftermarket versions as going from a 3 speed to a 5 speed, something like that.

They have weights in them that move out via centrifical force - the heavier the weight, the quicker they move out and the quicker it shifts.

Good if you are light, not good if you are heavy, lots of variables.

For the Met, I am using the Honda "green" weights, approximately 6 grams each - the Malossi comes with 7's and I feel they are too heavy and would slow take off too much.

Anyway - hang tight, soon, step by step instructions and pictures.

Thanks for stopping in,

Steve
