Metropolitan Seat Latch Modification

Here is my version of a modification for a "emergency" linkage to open the seat

1st, remove the seat. 1 phillips screw on the centerstand lock lever and the 4 10mm bolts.

Use a good old fashioned hanger - Here is how I bent the end to fit on this style release lever -



Use a small wire tie/zip strip to hold it on AFTER you have competed intial installation -

Note the small hole drilled to allow the wire to exit into the left fenderwell



After the "rod" has been run through, bend it to fit -



First, add a small piece of rubber tubing to the end



That makes it easier to bend my hand and more comfortable to use

I discovered some Metropolitans may have a slightly different latch release - here are pictures to cover the mod on those.

Here you can see the zipstrip/wire tie is inserted through the latch release, then on to the metal hanger section. -



Here is the basic routing, note the finger pull



Do not bend the finger pull until you have installed the metal hanger and slipped the plastic cover on the metal hanger section.

and the battery cover will require a modification on either version
