PostSubject: Vintage Sound Systems   Vintage Sound Systems I_icon_minitimeFri Dec 30, 2011 4:46 pm

Here are the pieces to my "new" system, waiting to be assembled -

Pioneer SX-980 reciever and PL-50 turntable

Vintage Sound Systems V02

ADC SS-33 Equalizer (green LED version), still not sure I'm going to use it (or how to!), but it is here -

Vintage Sound Systems V03

DMC Time Window Speakers, need to obtain/make some covers (ideas?)

Vintage Sound Systems V01

Also a set of EPI 201's and Pioneer SE-505 headphones

Vintage Sound Systems V04

I've set it up for testing with the EPI's

Vintage Sound Systems SYSTEM_TEST

I forgot what music used to sound like.

The speakers behind the EPI's were custom built by and for one of the head honcho's at Discwasher, a long, long time ago. I knew a couple of people that worked there, some of the discwashers that were one-off's were so cool.

I could use another discwasher.....

1st post of 2012.

Sitting here listening to the music.

Bad Company, Shooting Star is on now.

Quote :
Johnny was a schoolboy when he heard his first Beatle song,
'Love me do,' I think it was. From there it didn't take him long.
Got himself a guitar, used to play every night,
Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit,

And everything's all right, don't you know?

Johnny told his mama, hey, 'Mama, I'm goin' away. I'm gonna hit the big
time, gonna be a big star someday', Yeah.
Mama came to the door with a teardrop in her eye.
Johnny said, 'Don't cry, mama, smile and wave good-bye'.

Don't you know, yeah yeah, Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
Don't you know, don't you know. Don't you know that you are
a shooting star, And all the world will love you just as long,
As long as you are.

Johnny made a record, Went straight up to number one,
Suddenly everyone loved to hear him sing the song.
Watching the world go by, surprising it goes so fast.
Johnny looked around him and said, 'Well, I made the big time at last'.

Don't you know, don't you know, Don't you know that you are
a shooting star,
Don't you know, oh, yeah, Don't you know that you are
a shooting star, yeah,
And all the world will love you just as long,
As long as you are, a shooting star.

Don't you know that you are a shooting star, Don't you know, yeah,
Don't you know that you are a shooting star, now,
And all the world will love you just as long, As long you are you.

Johnny died one night, died in his bed, Bottle of whiskey,
sleeping tablets by his head. Johnny's life passed him by like a
warm summer day, If you listen to the wind you can still hear him play

Oh oh oh, Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
Don't you know, yeah, don't you know', Don't you know that
you are a shooting star,
Don't you know, yeah,
Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
Don't you, don't you,
don't you, don't you,
Don't you know, don't you
know, oh, yeah, you are,
Yeah, a shooting star, yeah, oh
oh oh oh oh......
Don't you, don't you know
that you are a shooting star,
Don't you don't you know......

Think I'll listen to some albums.....

Vintage Sound Systems System

I am stunned at the depth of the sound, vintage stereo system are incredible, one of the current best kept secrets.

Listening to WAR "The World is a Getto" every instrument stands out, you can feel the movements of the musicians, this is good.

Very nice set-up! I had a Pioneer receiver like that back in the day. Had to let go of my turntable 10 years ago however.
